Mythos and a Show in the Desert

May 20, 2013

So, Erica Henderson is an amazing artist. Just look through her blog or tumblr and you'll see how amazing her art is. She and her dad, author CJ Henderson, did a book a few years ago called, "Baby's First Mythos." I happen to have a copy of the original printnig and love it. Erica and CJ are currently have a Kickstarter going to reprint the book with new art and additional content. Give it a look.

This week (Thursday through Sunday, to be exact), I'll be in Phoenix, Arizona for Phoenix Comicon, at booth #792 with Danille Corsetto of Girls With Slingshots and Spike Trotman of Temlar, AZ and Poorcraft. Phoenix Comicon is one of my favorite shows and I look forward to it all year long. We won't be the only webcartoonists there, either. You can also find Howard Tayler of Schlock Mercenary (booth 896), as well as David Willis of Shortpacked and Dumbing of Ages and Joel Watson of Hijinks Ensue over in booth 1749. David Malki of Wondermark, Christ Yates of the Baffler and other Awesomeness, and Jeffrey Rowland of Overcompensating will be in TopatoCo's booth, #453. John Troutman of a lot of stuff will be there as well, but I'm not sure where.

Looking forward to seeing some of you there! -R.

Zeus

April 30, 2013

Hey, Dallas/Fort Worth folks! This Saturday I'll be at Zeus Comics in Dallas (which has moved to Inwood) for Free Comic Book Day. I'll be doing free sketches, screwing things up by selling my non-free stuff, and hanging out.

Other guests will include Phil Jimenez (Amazing Spider-Man, Fairest, Infinite Crisis), Stephen Sadowski (Avengers, JSA, Warlords of Mars), Peter Mayhew (the actor who played Chewbacca - it will be May the Fourth, after all), Robert Wilson IV (Knuckleheads), Chad Thomas (Megaman), and David Hopkins (Karma Incorporated, Astronaut Dad).

ALSO, opening next door that day will be a new gaming shop called Common Grounds Gaming, run by a friend of mine from high school/the BBS days. Hope to see some of you there. -R.

Minnesota, the Land Spring Forgot

April 19, 2013

So, I'm in Minnesota for Anime Detour. Since I was a late addition to the guest list, I was announced just as the convention's registration filled to capacity. A bit of a problem for any of my readers in the area who might want to drop by and say, "hello."

Last night I talked to Anton, who handles (amongst other things) guests to see if it would be okay if I had a reader gathering for those who couldn't get into the convention. He said it would be. So, Saturday evening, there will be a reader gathering for those of you who feel like braving the extended winter. I'm hoping to finalize details this morning as to where. It will be here in the Doubletree Hotel where the convention's being held. Anton's trying to find a room for us. AT WORST, we'll have it in the hotel's lobby if we have to. But hopefully, but noon today, I'll have finalized details and will post them here. Edit: (1:50pm) So, the gathering WON'T be in the Doubletree at all. The gathering will be at the Sofitel, in the Nice room, at 8pm on Saturday. There are other convention functions happening there as well. Convention badges will not be required to attend Saturday's reader gathering. I will continue to post the details to my Twitter account if anything comes up.

For those who can't make Satuday evening, I'm sorry. Tonight I have panels into the evening and Sunday night I know I'll probably be too tired to do anything but hide in my hotel room and draw. -R.
