Welcome back to Old Familiar Faces, Day Two. I decided to bring back Celie (who no one ever asks for) and Cora (who people still ask for).
Cora hasn't shown up in the comic since the end of 2004 beyond being discussed in... 2011, I think. She was a really popular character and a lot of people wanted her to stick around. For
those who don't recall, she was an actress in the doomed production of "Shock Treatment" Davan was to direct, a show that fell apart when it came out Ollie had never secured the rights.
Out of that mess, though, Davan met Sanderson. Also, Cora showed interest in Davan but he wasn't ready to move on from someone else quite yet.
Cora, incidentally, almost became who Davan ended up with. About mid-2005 I came up with the idea of Vanessa, but I still wasn't sure I was going to use her. I actually toyed with the idea of
Davan and Cora meeting up again years down the road, in very different places in their lives, and giving it a shot. In the end, I just liked the character of Vanessa too much. When she
showed up in 2009, I found out I wasn't alone. -R.
