Today's Comic
NEWW at Capacity - what'll we do?

March 9, 2009

So, for those of you who are inattentive - oh, who the fuck am I kidding? Those people won't read that. Well, here's my attempt. Last week outside forces required New England Webcomics Weekend to require registration for the event. Basically, they needed a solid headcount. Well, they reached capacity and fuckin' fast (funny how a free event with a shitload of webcartoonists goes to capacity in no time flat). What's this mean? Well, it means the NEWW is gonna be full, although NEWW is trying really hard to find more space so they're able to have more people attend.. And that if you didn't register, you're kinda boned. However, if you've already scheduled transportation (flight, bus ticket, sleestak-driven sleigh), contact them. They'll do what they can to help. If the space situation changes, I'll post something immediately.

If something can't be done about the space, I'll see what can be done for the local readers who aren't attend. Maybe a reader gathering on Thursday night somewhere. If you live in the Easthampton, MA, area and aren't going to be able to attend NEWW, please let me know and tell me if you know of or have a place where readers can hang out. Partly because it would be nice to have a headcount and partly because if I'm going to do this, I want to get it arranged now.

In other news, Sonny Strait has a new webcomic called Car Bombs. Sonny is a voice actor who's worked on the various Dragon Ball series (Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, Dragon Ball Babies, Dragon Ball Saves Christmas and Goku Finds a Testicular Lump), Lupin III, Fullmetal Alchemist, One Piece, amongst others. He was also the voice of TOM, Toonami's first mascot. Sonny's also an accomplished cartoonist who's pen has dabbled in Elfquest of all things. He's also a good guy. Give his work a look.

So, for those of you who didn't like the previous, Life According to S*P strips, you're not alone. I've received the official word that Patrick H. is NOT reading this comic anymore. He tendered his reader resignation this past Friday evening, although no press release has been issues. I'm not sure what I'll do to fill the void he's left but I'm thinking a small fern or perhaps a kudzu. For those who don't know who he is... uh, well. He seems to have been someone who read S*P and now doesn't. Because this offended him.

Vaya con Bob, Patrick H., whoever you are. May you find a webcomic out there where the person drawing it caves to people who make demands and attempt to throw, "I've been reading since the comic starts," and threats about how the comic will horribly implode if things aren't done their way around like grenades.

And now that the public ridicule portion of our blog is over, here's another fun link. F--- My Life is like twitter, only you only post about how your life is completely fucked. Okay, it's really like Twitter.

Oh, and the every sweet Amanda Bussell has brought Headtrip back after much turmoil and a few issues involving a hurt arm. Still a great comic. It's been back for a few weeks now.

... I really have nothing else to say and want to eat breakfast before I start doing store orders. Wheee. OH! I'm slowly adding specific art pieces to the S*P store, too. They are currently subject to the same "buy one, get a bonus S*P grabbag free." I will be, however, adding non-S*P art for the first time, including Super Stupor stuff later this week. Oh, and I know someone here can't wait to own my ass. -R.
