10 throughts on "April 18, 2025"

  1. I remember getting new history Text books at my highschool in 2012. At the back was a detailed outline of the changes in Air travel procedures.

  2. I’m old enough to remember smoking in planes, but not old enough to have smoked on a plane.

  3. My son took his first flight, to San Antonio, a couple(?) years ago, and the ticket counter agent gave me a gate pass to go back and sit with him before his flight.

  4. The first time I left the country, going to Canada in summer of 2000 (back when you could still joke that this was Barely Leaving The Country), I was with a bunch of graduate students driving to a conference in Guelph. As we approached the border, we realized that the Chinese national in our group *might* have trouble crossing back into the U.S. because even in 2000 immigration was getting a bit more hardass. She spent the week making sure all her paperwork was in order, and fortunately wasn’t even given a second look when we drove back across the border. Two years later, that would’ve been a much bigger worry.

  5. You can still do this, I’ve done it several times when my wife and daughter go visit family in the summer. I didn’t know you could but the staff at the ticket counter mentioned that I could get a guest pass to get through security and wait at the gate so I do it every time now.
